Last Updated: 03/10/26

Tablemate is a community built on trust, respect, and fair play. These Community Guidelines ("Guidelines") describe the standards we expect from everyone who uses our platform. By using Tablemate, you agree to follow these Guidelines. They work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy—violations may result in warnings, suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.

1. OUR VALUES

Trust. We bring strangers together for in-person games. Trust is earned through verification, honest profiles, and consistent conduct.

Respect. Treat every host and player with respect. Disagreements happen—handle them calmly and fairly.

Fair Play. Games should be fun and fair. No cheating, collusion, or manipulation.

Safety. Your safety and the safety of others come first. Report concerning behavior and look out for one another.

2. HONESTY AND AUTHENTICITY

2.1 Accurate Profiles

  • Use your real name and a recent, recognizable photo of yourself.

  • Do not impersonate others or use fake identities.

  • Keep your profile information up to date.

2.2 Verification

  • Complete ID verification and LinkedIn connection as required. These steps help build trust across the community.

  • Do not attempt to circumvent verification or use another person's identity.

  • Verification badges reflect your status—do not misrepresent or fake them.

2.3 Game Listings

  • Hosts: Describe your games accurately. Include correct date, time, location (city), stakes, and any house rules or expectations.

  • Do not create misleading or fake game listings.

  • Update or cancel listings promptly if plans change.

3. RESPECT AND CIVILITY

3.1 Communication

  • Be respectful in all messages, whether in-app or in person.

  • Do not harass, bully, threaten, intimidate, or demean anyone.

  • No hate speech, slurs, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, or any other protected characteristic.

  • Disagreements over game rules or outcomes should be handled calmly. Escalation to personal attacks is not acceptable.

3.2 In-Person Conduct

  • Respect the host's home and rules. You are a guest.

  • Arrive on time when possible. If you will be late, communicate.

  • Respect other players' space, belongings, and privacy.

  • Do not bring uninvited guests unless the host explicitly allows it.

3.3 Feedback and Reviews

  • Reviews should be honest, constructive, and based on your actual experience.

  • Do not leave false or retaliatory reviews.

  • Do not pressure others to leave positive reviews or to avoid leaving negative ones.

4. FAIR PLAY AND GAME INTEGRITY

4.1 No Cheating

  • Do not cheat or collude with other players.

  • Do not use devices, software, or signals to gain unfair advantage.

  • Do not mark cards, manipulate chips, or engage in any form of cheating.

4.2 Stakes and Money

  • Agree on stakes and rules before play begins.

  • Do not pressure others to play for stakes they are uncomfortable with.

  • Settle disputes about money or chips directly and fairly. Tablemate does not facilitate or hold funds—all arrangements are between users.

4.3 House Rules

  • Hosts may set house rules (e.g., buy-in limits, time limits).

  • Players should follow the host's rules or leave if they disagree. Do not argue aggressively or disrupt the game.

5. SAFETY AND PRIVACY

5.1 Address Confidentiality

  • Game addresses are private. Do not share, screenshot, or disclose game addresses to anyone who is not an approved participant for that game.

  • Violation of address confidentiality may result in immediate permanent removal.

5.2 Meeting in Person

  • Meet in a safe, respectful manner. Follow the host's instructions for arrival and entry.

  • If you feel unsafe at any point, leave and report the incident to us.

  • Do not show up unannounced or after you have been denied entry to a game.

5.3 Personal Safety

  • Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it may be.

  • Do not share personal financial information beyond what is necessary for the game.

  • Report users who make you feel unsafe, threatened, or harassed.

5.4 Age Verification

  • All participants must be 21 or older. Do not allow minors to attend or observe games.

  • Do not share your account or facilitate access for anyone under 21.

6. HOST RESPONSIBILITIES

6.1 Creating a Safe Environment

  • Hosts set the tone. Ensure your space is welcoming and safe for all participants.

  • Approve or reject seat requests in a timely manner.
